Baker Street Bread Company on Park Avenue in Rochester, NY started as part of a franchise, but the owner bought himself out of it and went independent. The breads --- call them European or “artisan” --- are outstanding and very consistent (a quality hard to find in a bakery). The pastries and pies are fabulous. Increasingly, Baker Street has become a bakery of choice for higher-end local restaurants who don’t do their own baking. It’s easy to understand why.
